Random drug testing needs to be designed in a structured and legally robust way. We help you define how the testing should work in practice, with clear routines tailored to your organisation.
Together we go through which roles should be covered, how often tests should be carried out and which substances should be included. The set-up is adapted to the organisation's risk level, working environment and industry.
Selection must be random, traceable and free from manual choices. We help you set up a digital and documented random draw based on staff records or your HR system.
Sampling takes place during working hours, normally with a short interval between notification and testing. Depending on the set-up, sampling can be carried out with a saliva test on site or via a urine sample at a partner unit.
Positive screening results are always verified in an accredited laboratory. Where needed, the results can be reviewed by an MRO physician before the final result is reported digitally to the authorised recipient via a secure portal.
An in-depth look at how the programme is kept legally robust can be found in our guide Random drug testing – how to build a legally robust programme.
Random programmes are least controversial when employees know they exist. We help you inform staff at the time of hiring, in performance reviews and when the policy is updated.

Yes, random drug testing can be permitted in Sweden if there is an objective and proportionate reason, for example related to safety or hazardous duties. For the set-up to hold up, the employer usually needs to have clear routines, handle the matter in accordance with the Swedish Co-Determination in the Workplace Act (MBL) and ensure that selection is carried out in an objective and genuinely random manner.
